Peer Research Consultants

Research assistance from student peers.

Meet the 2025-26 Peer Research Consultants

Daytona Doherty ’26

Hi, I’m Daytona. I’m a junior at Colgate University, double majoring in psychology and biology. I’m passionate about research and aspire to become a researcher and professor. I’ve had the opportunity to work in several fun labs, and I’m always excited to dive into new projects. Whether you’re looking for someone to brainstorm ideas with, help analyze data, or offer feedback on a project, I’d love to collaborate. Although LA is my true home, I love the Colgate community and enjoy being involved in COVE projects or hanging out with friends. My goal is to support and learn from as many people as I can while I’m here, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like to work together!

Maria Eagan ’26

I am Maria and I am a  senior. I am from New York City but have also lived in London, Skaneateles, New York (just outside Syracuse), and New Jersey. At Colgate, I am a member of The Network and a psychology and sociology major. I enjoy going on walks, listening to music, and my favorite show is Grey's Anatomy.

Akalah Esson ’26

Hello! I am a sociology and Africana & Latin American studies major on the pre-law track. I currently live in New York City but I was born in Jamaica. Aside from being a Peer Research Consultant, I am also the event coordinator for the Caribbean Student Association and work at the Case Library Circulation Desk. I’m passionate about giving back to my community and I love to express creativity through cooking ethnic meals. In my free time, you can find me reading and learning silly TikTok dances. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you all this year!

Abigail McGuire ’26

Hello, I'm Abby. I am a senior majoring in biology and Native American studies, and a leader of the Secular Association for Skeptical Students. I am deeply interested in the diversity of life on Earth as well as Indigenous worldviews and cultures. I have a strong love of learning and can’t wait to tackle the challenges of research at Colgate with my fellow students.

Noah Rose ’27

Hello! I am currently a junior majoring in history and double minoring
in philosophy and chinese. My aspiring career is concentrated in the
legal field, as I have a keen interest in critical thinking, an
aptitude for public speaking, and an avid inclination for advocacy and
ethical integrity. My many intellectual enjoyments include research,
opinionated writing, and verbal commentary, of which I immerse myself
at Colgate by writing commentary pieces for the Colgate Maroon-News.
In addition, embracing cultural diversity and global perspectives
remains key in my learning, illustrated by my motivation to advance my
proficiency in Mandarin throughout my undergraduate education, as well
as my enthusiastic desire to stay connected with my Jewish upbringing
through my involvement in the university’s Jewish Union and the local
Chabad of Hamilton. Aside from academics, I am a jazz and soul music
enthusiast, sports fanatic, food connoisseur, numismatist, and
timepiece aficionado. Moreover, I hold great enjoyment in playing the
tenor saxophone, freshwater fishing, watching iconic movies, and
reading science fiction novels. I look forward to helping my peers
with their research journeys!

Ellen Weinstock ’26

Hi, my name is Ellen! I grew up in Davidson, North Carolina, and Madison, Wisconsin, but most recently moved to Rhode Island. I am currently a junior here at Colgate and I am double majoring in religion and political science. Outside of class, I am the event coordinator for Planned Parenthood, a member of Hamilton Outdoor Group, and I play for the Women’s Club soccer team. I am happy to help with any research subjects but will be able to help the most in more humanities-based research.
